Turn a vacant site in Tāmaki into a hub of activity!

We’re looking to fund local people, organisations or community groups to take on a kaimanaaki role and shape four of TRC’s vacant sites into temporary spaces where the community can come to connect. Maybe you’d like to run a community garden, or create a space for children to play and learn.

We want to hear your ideas about what you’d do if you had the chance to turn one of TRC’s vacant sites into a hub of activity.

We’re interested in projects that will support wellbeing for the community and for the environment, that incorporate arts, creativity and cultural traditions, and that celebrate the vibrant, diverse cultures of Tāmaki.

Examples include but are not limited to:

• Gardens or farms
• Culturally inspired play spaces
• Raranga (weaving) or carving spaces
• Art installations
• Pop-up space for children to play and learn

We currently have four empty sites that will be available for one year. The sites located in Tāmaki at:

• 8 Hay Road (583 sqm)
• 6 Bagnall Ave (842 sqm)
• 48 Point England Road (416 sqm)
• 52 Point England Road (431 sqm)

TRC will fund successful applicants and provide on-going support, mentors, and networking opportunities. There are grants available for up to $30,000 per project.
