Each time one of our homes becomes available, we will look on the housing register for people who might be suitable for that home, and who want to live in our area.
We can get your details from the register, and so we will let you know when the right house becomes available.
Through this process we work closely with MSD to make sure the situation suits you and your new neighbours. When considering whether a home is right for you, we will think about:
- Your safety
- Whether the community and neighbourhood is right for you
- Whether you have what you need nearby, like a doctor or your church
- Whether the home is close to your work or school
- Whether you have friends and whānau nearby
If we offer you a house and it suits your needs, you can accept the home and we will work with you on the process to move in.
If you turn down a home that we think is right for you, it is important that you have a good reason for this. This helps make sure that you will continue to be eligible for other homes. There is strong demand for state housing across Auckland.
