A message from Housing Foundation Household Managers A message from Housing Foundation Household Managers

Housing Foundation is here to support you and your whānau through your shared homeownership journey. You may have seen in the news that interest rates have risen over the last few months, and trends are showing they are likely to stay at these levels.

To support you during this time, we have made a list of important tips and resources:

  • If you have any questions, speak with your Mortgage Manager, and they will discuss options to help you during this time
  • Make sure that you have the right home loan option. Speak to your Mortgage Manager about different ways to build your loan before you come to the end of your current fixed term
  • Plan ahead, compare the amount you are paying now for each mortgage payment period versus what you will be paying on a higher interest rate. This will help you to budget for any additional repayments. You can compare repayments at different interest rates by using the mortgage calculator tools at westpac.co.nz or asb.co.nz.

Now more than ever, your financial skills and how well you budget will be important to ensure you get through times of high interest rates. Work out what you can afford, and use the tool below to help you plan ahead. ASB and Westpac websites also have good budget calculators to help you plan.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your Household Support Manager, who will be back on board from the 9th of January, 2023.  They can share the right support options to help you overcome any challenges, so please get in touch if you need to.

While our our kaimahi take a break, it’s also important to us that you have support when you need it. For our whānau currently in affordable homes, if you have any emergency issues outside of our shutdown period, please contact Affordable Housing Community Advisor Caroline Koloamatangi on 027 560 8387.

Kia haumaru te noho i tēnei wāhanga o te tau.

Stay safe during this holiday season.
